At times, I still find myself surprised to be working here, as I was convinced during my studies that I wouldn’t end up in a law firm. Yet my career path unexpectedly led me unexpectedly into transactions, where I found something that suited me very well.
There is a lot about transactional law that suits the way I work. The project-based nature of the assignments, and managing both matters and processes, come naturally to me. Above all, it is the people at HPP who have made me want to stay. I enjoy working alongside colleagues who are true experts in their field and always give their best.
At HPP, we focus on what matters: the client’s needs and the best way to meet them. We leave our egos at the door and operate on a simple principle: the best person for a job should be the one doing it. We genuinely challenge and support each other, and there is something special about working with full commitment in a relaxed atmosphere.
That is also why my advice to anyone entering the field is simple: learn how to work as part of a team. No one does this alone, as they shouldn’t. The best results come when everyone focuses on what they do best and trusts that others do the same.
At HPP, responsibility is yours to take if you’re ready for it, and that has encouraged me to continuously develop my skills. The assignments are varied, and each one requires its own approach. We do not follow a fixed template from one project to another; each case requires a real understanding of the bigger picture.
The reality of working as a lawyer is also often quite different from the stereotypes. Working at HPP doesn’t mean 18-hour days in the office wearing a suit. You can show up as you are, even in a hoodie. You can also work from wherever suits you, whether that is home or a summer cottage.
Although I once swore I’d never work at a law firm, I have found a home at HPP. It is a place where I can truly grow as a professional, and it has been the most pleasant of surprises.
