I joined HPP in 2019 as an Associate Trainee, and after graduating, I continued at the firm as an Associate. Later on, I decided to broaden my expertise and gain experience from the corporate world as well so I spent a few years managing a Finnish subsidiary of an international energy company, which gave me a unique opportunity to view business from the client’s perspective. In 2025, however, I returned to the legal field and back to HPP.
The time I spent in the corporate sector offered valuable experience, but it also reinforced my understanding of why a law firm is such a unique working environment for a lawyer. At a law firm, you get to work on constantly varying and challenging projects, which keeps the work engaging and enables rapid professional development. Each project is different, allowing deep dives into diverse legal questions in a way that wouldn’t be possible in the corporate world.
Throughout my career, I have mainly worked on energy and infrastructure projects – supporting project development, advising on M&A transactions and financing arrangements, as well as handling other finance related contractual matters. I have always been motivated to deepen my understanding of the client’s industry beyond the strict confines of legal work. In my view, what truly distinguishes a good lawyer is how well they understand the client’s commercial needs and how legal solutions can support them.
At HPP, I have had the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled colleagues who understand not only the legal aspects of the matters we handle but also the client’s industry inside out. This collective expertise has meant that whenever I reach the limits of my own knowledge, I have always had the support of colleagues wiser than me. At HPP, I’ve been able to continuously learn from the best, and this collaborative learning environment has been invaluable for my professional growth.
My experience in both worlds has taught me that a law firm offers a lawyer the best opportunities to develop as an expert, work on significant projects, and build long-term competence in an environment where learning and professional growth are continuous—and for me, among all law firms, HPP has been exactly the right place for that.
